If you have the time to take in the local scenery Sue can give you loads of ideas. Here's a flavour: Take in the local gastronomy: We needn't tell you about the famous Toulouse sausage, but only 30 mins away you can visit the local Confrerie and watch it being made! Foie Gras, Goose and Duck are the staple diet of this part of France along, of course, with the inevitable Cassoulet. The latter unfortunately takes three days to cook to perfection, but meanwhile you can wander around the farm of the local Foie Gras producer and see the various Geese and Duck A Little Culture: There are many different museums and places of archeological interest. Take the lovely hillside town of Aurignac, 10 mins away, where there is a Prehistoric Museum and traces of mankind some 30,000 years old. Visit the wonderful small churches in every village and take in their bell towers. Or further afield see the Roman Basilique of Saint-Sernin in Toulouse or the medieval city of Carcassonne. The Potteries of Martres Tolosane: No less than 8 factories are located in this tiny village all making beautiful pieces. Each piece is hand made and therefore unique! An ideal souvenir. The Oldest Market in Europe: No visit to France, however short would be complete without a visit to one or two of the markets which still form an essential part of everyday life. Each one is different and has its own charm. Revel, on a Saturday, is the oldest in Europe and still has a thriving following. Here you will see everything from a loaf of bread - in all shapes and sizes - to a few live hens to take home! And there's Castres, famous for its Foie Gras, St. Gaudens for the local growers; Salies-du-Salat for their fruit and vegetables, etc! Sue will give you all the details. For the Active: And in case you get tired of lazing around, there's always boating, fishing, swimming or Golf. Take your pick! The local hills are inviting and the Midi-Pyrénées provide spectacular walks and mountain lakes just minutes away. You can walk right out the door and take a delightful walk along the Noue River. If you're feeling spry, there is a path over the hills to the nearby village of St. Martory. Another local walk brings you to the remains of a hilltop chateau and lovely views. Skiing Make us a stopping off point to visit the nearby ski resorts in the Pyrenees of Le Mourtis, Peyragudes or Super Bagnères. Need to Rent a Car?
